HOMERe aims at connecting graduates to the world of companies thanks to international internships in companies.
By now HOMERe is concerned with 4 Northern countries(France, Greece, Italy and Spain) et 5 Southern countries (Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco and Tunisia) of the Mediterranean Region. Promoters of HOMERe are RMEI et the Conseillers du Commerce Extérieur of France.
For the pilot phase, HOMERe began on 2015, January 1st and will end on 2016, December 31th. ;
Difficulties in recruitment of executives are quoted by leaders of companieswho operate in the Mediterranean area : lack of knowledge in the world of works by graduates, soft skills not developped enough (group spirit, autonomy...) in the graduates even if they have a high academic level.
Increase employability prospects for high-level post-graduates in the region, and in particular their access to qualified first jobs, through the implementation of 6-months international internships at the headquarters of a company with Mediterranean development prospects. That internship experience, conducted under supervision, will allow its beneficiaries to create their professional network and to acquire new competencies, which will be assessed at the end of the placement by an oral defense in their country of origin. ;
Facilitate recruitment procedures and guarantee successful recruitment procedures for employers located in the participating countries. HOMERe will support employers in in identifying high-level post-graduates whose profile meets their business development needs in the region. Through the selection of internship positions fitting as much as possible with the companies’ real needs, HOMERe will also involve employers in the skills development of post-graduates.
Qualified internship offers
The consortium will strive to receive internship offers meeting HOMERe quality criteria (real work assignment, international intern coming from the Mediterranean, continuous supervision, minimal monthly subsistence allowance, etc.).
The consortium is supported by professional networks which will contact companies.
Appropriate matching between internship assignments and students’ profiles
The consortium is supported by an operational network of academic relays responsible for pre-selected the right students in each of the participating countries. The employer is responsible for the final selection of the intern among pre-selected students.
Post-graduates enrolled at RMEI/UNIMED/CMU member universities/schools – and beyond, when skills requirements of the internship offer need a broader sourcing.
Companies operating in the Mediterranean region, i.e. with import/export activities and/or subsidiaries and/or joint-venture companies and/or development prospects in the region (for instance : Algerian company owning a company in Spain, French company with Moroccan subsidiary, Lebanese company with local office in Egypt, etc.).
Recruitement of the HOMERe interns
Whenever the HOMERe intern will meet the company’s skills requirements and the company will have a corresponding open position in his/her country of origin, he/she will be in a good position to apply (hands-on knowledge of the company’s corporate culture and internal processes, professional network of contacts within the company, etc.).
Improvement of engineering and management curricula among Mediterranean schools/universities
Final assessment of HOMERe internships will be shared with the academic relays of the consortium in each country in order to contribute to the improvement of curricula (industry feedback regarding curricula).
